RENT 20th Anniversary Tour is Coming to Detroit

I am super excited to announce that RENT is coming back to Detroit! RENT is my absolute favorite musical on earth. For awhile I listened to the music on repeat so I’d know every single line. Anyways, on to the details!

The producers of the RENT 20th Anniversary Tour announced today that tickets for the Detroit engagement, January 8 – 20 at the Fisher Theatre, will go on sale Sunday, September 23.  Tickets start at $39 and can be purchased online at or, or by phone at 800-982-2787. Starting Monday, September 24, tickets may also be purchased at the Fisher Theatre box office.

In 1996, an original rock musical by a little-known composer opened on Broadway… and forever changed the landscape of American theatre. Two decades later, Jonathan Larson’s RENT continues to speak loudly and defiantly to audiences across generations and all over the world. And now, this Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award®-winning masterpiece returns to the stage in a vibrant 20th anniversary touring production. A re-imagining of Puccini’s La Bohème, RENT follows an unforgettable year in the lives of seven artists struggling to follow their dreams without selling out. With its inspiring message of joy and hope in the face of fear, this timeless celebration of friendship and creativity reminds us to measure our lives with the only thing that truly matters—love.

Performance times for the RENT 20th Anniversary Tour appearing January 8-20, 2019 at the Fisher Theatre, located at 3011 West Grand Blvd., in Detroit are:

  • Tuesday, January 8 performance at 8:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday – Saturday evening performance at 8:00 p.m.
  • Sunday evening performances at 7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday & Sunday matinees at 2:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, January 17 matinee at 1:00 p.m.
  • Special open captioned performance on Sunday, January 13 at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets for The RENT 20th Anniversary Tour start at $39 (includes facility and parking fees) and go on sale Sunday, September 23. Tickets can be purchased online at or, and by phone at 800-982-2787. Starting Monday, September 24 tickets can also be purchased at the Fisher Theatre box office.
