Kroger Prep + Pared Meal Kits Review
You’ve probably heard of Hello Fresh, Blue Apron, or Plated. Home delivery services are huge these days. But they aren’t exactly cheap. Plus, you don’t always get a wide variety of food choices to pick from. That’s why I am loving Kroger Prep and Pared, Krogers own ready to cook meal kit. They are available at most Krogers and run about $15.
My dad and I tried out the Crispy Ricotta-Basil Meatballs with Chunky Marinara Penne with Zucchini meal. We wanted an easy meal to cook up on a night my mom was gone away on vacation. This was definitely it! We loved that everything was already measured out and ready to go.
My dad was the main chef of the meal. He made the meatballs, dipped them in the egg, and coated them in the breadcrumbs.
You can see in the picture below our meatballs were a little misshapen. But thats ok, they still tasted good no matter what the shape! I was also a big fan of the breadcrumbs: they added a lot!
I got to fry the meatballs. I wasn’t very good at it. I may or may not have split like half of them. Good thing they taste delicious no matter the shape.
After cooking the meatballs through, you add the sauce, onions, and zucchini. Yes, zucchini! It tasted so good with meatballs and pasta. After a few minutes, add in the pasta. The pasta comes already cooked, so all you have to do is warm it!
I don’t make the prettiest bowl of pasta, but man was it delicious. I loved all the fresh cheese I had on top. My dad isn’t a huge fan of cheese, so more for me!
Overall, I give this meal kit a 4.5/5. I liked that every little thing was premeasured and precut, but I know that I wouldn’t have wanted to make the meatballs if my dad hadn’t had done it. But, I can’t wait to try another meal kit with a different recipe!
