How to Shop Back to School at Meijer
Meijer is a store located in the Midwest. It’s not as classy as Target, but not as shitty as Walmart. They are more like Walmart, in the sense of their size and product variety they carry.
Meijer is split into two parts. One is grocery and then nongrocery. I’m going to focus on the nongrocery side. This is because I could go on and on about grocery shopping for back to school.
As soon as you walk in the door, there is school stuff. They run sales every week. Here are some tips for shopping at Meijer.
They have no limit on manufacture coupons
They accept Target coupons
You can stack a target coupon and a manufacture coupon
They have an app called Mperks. It has both manufacture coupons and store coupons, but mostly manufacture coupons though.
They have a pretty good selection of school supplies. They are arranged much like Target. They also have a pretty good amount of dorm stuff. My big issue is that is is very spread out. It is just kind of included in the normal sections.
They do have a great collection of super cute quote decorationsIf you are like me and too cheap to buy them, you can always steal the quotes and make your own art.
My favorite thing Meijer has for back to school? Cat office supplies! They have a cat stapler, cat post-its holder, and a cat tape dispenser!
The wall of sharpies! There are just so many! I want them all.
Same with pens. They have a bazillion.
Do I see Frozen pencils??
Ohhhh paper pads.
Look at this ruler! You can fold it up and make it small.
Or this one, which is a slap bracelet! How cool is that?
They have a better selection of pencil pouches than Office Depot.
The binders aren’t the worse price I’ve ever seen, but not the best either.
The folders though aren’t badly priced. At least for “fancy” folders.
They even have art supplies for those of you who took mostly art classes in High School.
They don’t have a huge selection of backpacks, but the prices aren’t bad. They run about $15 for kids school bags.
They do have a Frozen backpack. FROZEN!
Here are the adult lunch boxes. So not fun. Kids lunch boxes are so much cooler!
They also have things like freezer packs, cups, sandwich holders, ect.
These cool cups and mugs are normal items at Meijer. But look at that, a Frozen Anna Mug, Frozen water bottle, and a Frozen drink cup!
I love laptop tables. Keeps my Macbook from burning my legs.
Need to decorate your dorm? Of course you do!
Do you need a $20 pillow? No. Will you buy a $20 fuzzy and super soft pillow? Yes.
Plastic storage. Aka, my crack. Prices are about average.
These aren’t as fancy as Target’s bankies, but they are just as soft.
Even on sale, the rugs are a bit expensive. But if you are looking for a specific color, this would be a good place to check.
At the time of my “field trip,” they didn’t have much at all in fall clothing. Although they don’t usually have the best selection of clothing, they do usually have a few cute pieces.
They do have this fall coat out. It is lined in the soft fur you can see on the hood. It looks so warm. Of course, I have like 3 coats that look just like this, so it won’t be on my to buy list.
I LOVE Bobs. I actually like them more than Toms. They run about the same price, but Meijer will sometimes have sales or coupons on them. They already have their fall selection out.
On to kids clothes! They had an ok selection. A lot of clearance at the time of my field trip, so I assume more fall clothes should be in soon.
I really like that they have sets! You don’t see that too often for bigger kids.
Look at their selection of socks! I have a huge love for character socks, but they seem to be making them smaller lately. Thus unable to fit my feet. Notice the amount of Frozen socks. 🙂
Thanks for reading about my field trip! Check out my trip to Target and keep an eye out for the other stores I field tripped too!
