DIY Planner Series: Decorate Your Planner (on the Cheap) + Freebies!

Yay, my second planner post! I hope you loved my DIY Planner.plannerdecoratepin

This week is all about DIY decorating. Half the reason I wanted to start a planner is because of how decorated and cute they look. Especially the Erin Condren planners. You get to use all these stickers and washi tape and flags. Look how awesome these are:

So how do you make your planner look just as awesome?

If you are a scrapbooker or know one, start there. I could raid my mom’s scrapbook room day after day for years, and it probably wouldn’t make a dent. But, it kind of scares me in there, so I didn’t.

I went to Joann’s with my mom the other day. Mom was looking for fabric, so I wandered. I decided to see if they had any planner stuff. I figured it would be in with the scrapbook stuff.

While they didn’t have anything planner specific, I did find out that they have a value section! I didn’t know Joann’s actually had things for a buck.

Everything in that picture is a dollar. Yes, only a dollar! What I was going for was the washi tape. Have you ever priced washi tape? They are stupid expensive! I’m not paying $3-5 for a roll of tape just because it looks pretty. I decided to get my money worth and go for the packs with the two rolls. They are very thin, which is perfect if you are using my free DIY printable daily planner. Or really any A5 sized planner.

There was also fun stuff like stickers, chipboard, little clippies, and cell phone stickers. Worth checking out next time you are up there.

As much as I love me some washi tape, it isn’t the only thing that makes the above planners so pretty. I decided to try to get some stickers to review. Yay reviewing!

Click on the pictures to see closer or to order. They are under $3 plus free shipping. I really liked using these stickers because A) they are adorable B) they are small enough for my planner C) they come off the page easily.

But, what about the big stickers? The ones that fill an entire calendar date with quotes or cute backgrounds. They are stickers… kind of. What these are are printables! You print out the cute squares and glue them down to your page. Easy-peasy. Now, if you want, you can buy a crap ton of cute little things off Etsy. Or, you could use my freebie!

I made an awesome set of Valentines themed stickers for all you wonderful readers! I will be honest; it isn’t perfect. It is my first set I’ve ever made, so be nice! But I like the way it looks. You can see my pics below of how they look in my planner (plus my stickers from above.)

Now, I used Office Depot printing services to print these. But only cause my printer is out of colored ink.

Great tips! I’ve recently gotten into decorating my planner and it is super addictive. I can see how the cost of supplies could definitely get out of hand. Ack! My top tip is to check out the Dollar Tree. They have lots of cute stuff and all their merchandise rotates so they’re always getting new things. Plus, everything’s a dollar! Their stickers especially are super on point.
