DIY Ursula Jewelry Holder

If you’ve followed my blog at all, you probably know by now that I have a cat named Ursula. She is my pride and joy. Because of her Disney inspired name, I of course have to go crazy with Ursula stuff. If her name was Ariel (her sisters name) I would go crazy with ariel stuff. Makes sense, right?

Anyways, back to the point. I have been wanting a ring/jewelry holder. But I am way too cheap to go out and buy one. Even a plastic one is like $5 at Target. A ceramic one is like $8 at Forever 21. That is way out of my budget.

So I decided to make one. I’ve seen things on pinterest about how easy they are to make. Just use a plate and a little plastic animal. I found a little plate at my favorite thrift shop, Value World. It’s a little decorative souvenir plate. I think it’s adorable.

Now that I had the plate, I needed the little animal. I was thinking a cat or a giraffe or an elephant. Then mom suggested I find an Ursula figurine. So of course, I did! It took a little bit to find it though. I ended up going with a fish tank decoration. It was on clearance for $2.50! Score! Also ended up getting the real Ursula some cat food because she is a spoiled brat.

First I had to figure out where exactly I wanted her. I chose right in the middle. Of course, you could put it closer to the front or back, where ever looks best to you.

Once placement is figured out, time to get the hot glue gun. Mom made a “fancy” glue gun plate with a cork pot holder and a piece of foil.

I put a crap ton of glue on the bottom of Ursula and just placed her right on down.

Then I glued the crap out of the sides. I didn’t want her to accidentally peel off. So I just stuck the glue gun in the undersides and filled it up.

See? Lots and lots of glue.

Next came spray paint. I used the gold from some projects from Ella’s room. It took a couple of coats to get it covered.

This is it all done. Looks how pretty it is! I love the way it turned out. There are a couple of weird spots where I sprayed too much paint, but whatevs. I’m not picky.

Look how fancy she is. Have you made your own ring holder? Let me see it in the comments!!
