DIY Crochet Cat Shark Hat
Happy Shark Week! If you live under a rock, shark week is a week on Discovery Channel, when they show nothing but shark shows.
I decided that Ursula needed to celebrate as well. While she didn’t quite agree, I am the mommy and I decide what she does.
Take a look of my list of best movies to watch after Shark Week!
To help her celebrate, I chose to make her a shark hat. I saw this giant collection of cats dressed up as sharks on Buzzfeed, and knew she needed her own costume.
I adapted the hat from MysteriousCats beanie tutorial. I don’t really know how write a crochet pattern, so if you are confused and have any questions, feel free to ask!

To Make the Hat
Rnd 1: start with 6 sc on magic ring.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in every st around. (12sts)
Rnd 3: *1 sc in next st, 2sc in next st*. Repeat from * around. (18sts)
Rnd 4: *1 sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st*. Repeat from * around. (24 sts)
Rnd 5: *1 sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st*. Repeat from * around. (30 sts)
Rnd 6: *1 sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st*. Repeat from * around. (36 sts)
If your cat’s head is smaller skip some rounds or if it’s bigger continue increasing it. This ended up being just a tad big for Ursula, but I was too far into it when I realized, so I was about to undo all my stitches.
Rnd 7: Ch 20 or amount necessary to go around ear, skip 6 sts, sl st in next st, sc in next 10 sts, sl st in next st, ch 20, skip 6 sts, sl st in next st, sc in next 10 sts.
chain 1 up, turn, sc 12. do it 7 times.
sc around the beginning of other ear
I switched to a 3, but that is because my white yarn is smaller.
Sc 25 white onto the front of the hat.
