20 Margarita Recipes for Nat Margarita Day!
It is National Margarita Day! I’m a big fan of Raspberry Margaritas. My favorite is probably from Texas Roadhouse. It has the best flavor plus you can get a kicker. 🙂 I’ve decided to make a list of awesome margarita recipes. But first, some history of margaritas.
In its basic form, a margarita is made up of tequila, tequila, lime juice and Cointreau or Triple Sec, and is served in a glass rimmed with salt. A couple of different people have claimed to have created the yummy drink.
The first claimant is Carlos “Danny” Herrera. He said he created it in his Mexican restaurant in 1938. He just randomly thought up a recipe for a customer who was allergic to everything but tequila. He turned a typical tequila shot into a drink and tada! The margarita was born.
The next ‘inventor’ is Margarita Sames. She claimed she made the drink for her friends 1948, while with friends at her vacation home. One of those friends was Tommy Hilton, who ended up adding the drink to his bar menu at his hotels.
