Chocolate Chip Shark Fin Cookies
According to some websites, today is chocolate day. Personally, I LOVE chocolate. It’s so yummy! And you can use it with so many different things.
This week is also Shark Week on the Discovery Channel. I decided to kill two birds with one stone and make Chocolate Chip Shark Fin Cookies! I will be 100% honest, they aren’t the most fantastic looking shark fins you will ever see. But hey, I tried! I adapted the recipe from SugarBaker.
I wish I had had a shark cookie cutter, but apparently my parents didn’t love me as a child. Instead, I used a heart (you’ll understand below.)
I completely forgot to keep taking pictures after adding the rest of the ingredients. Whoops. Once everything is added, make sure to chill the dough in your fridge for at least an hour. You want it nice and firm.
- 1 c unsalted butter
- 1/3c granulated sugar
- 1/2 c light-brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 tsp vanilla extract (I kind of just poured some in)
- 2 ½ c all-purpose flour, sifted.
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 ½ c semi-sweet chocolate chips
Cream together the butter and sugars. Ddd the vanilla and egg. Sift together the flour and salt, and add it one cup at a time until completely incorporated. Then, fold in the chocolate chips by hand. Chill dough for an hour. After about 45 minutes, preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Roll out dough and cut into fins (see above.) Bake 10-12 minutes.
