Organizing Your Baking Supplies

I have a very love/hate relationship with the section of our cabinets that holds all of our baking supplies. It holds a lot because it is a corner cabinet, but it always seems to be messy. I dislike messy. Well, I dislike messy plus unorganized. Since I am a very messy person.

I hate those organizational posts that are like “do this and your pantry will look like mine!” That’s not how it works. Or even worse, everything they use to organize is from the Container Store or another expensive store.

So I will show you what I used and how I used it and hopefully you will be able to implement a system that works for you!

Before the Organizing

Before I organized it, you could barely see what was in here. AND, things are in here that don’t belong! That’s just not right.

Organizing Your Baking Supplies

We have a ton of organizing containers, just not easy to grab or easy to even see.

Here is kind of a wide shot. You can see it is ridiculously packed.

During Organizing

What you first need to do is take everything out. Yes, EVERYTHING!

I sat on the floor in front of the cabinet and put everything around me. You can see Ursula and Mia checking everything out. Of course, Ursula decided that climbing was the best way to help me. Because of course she did.

We had like 5 bags of Hershey Kisses. Maybe more. I only had a bit of oatmeal left so I just dumped it into the plastic holder. I poured all my kisses into the now empty oatmeal container. You can see Ursula helping me with this project too.

I could have wrapped it all pretty with scrapbook paper or something, but that is too much work. So I just cut the bag up and glued the name in a couple of places around the container. Works for me.

By this point, I started putting things away. We have about 30 plastic shoe boxes in the attic, so I grabbed a couple of those to use. It worked really well to organize stuff a little cleaner. And easier to see.

You can also see we have enough brown sugar for a year. Plus, all the  with my sugar, flour, etc are now easily accessible.

In the last photo, you can see I just shoved the bag of candy in a box. I decided I didn’t like that and used some of our extra clip boxes that we’ve had forever. I packed them all in there to fit as good as possible. Yes, I have a problem.

After Organizing

Yay! All organized! I’m not a huge fan of all the brown sugar piled in the back, but I don’t know where else to store it. I like that I can finally see everything that we have. I love that I thought of the shoe boxes because I can just pull the box out and grab the item instead of pulling everything off the shelf to get it.

A better view of the left side. Yes, I really like ramen. But the low sodium ramen, so I’m being healthy. PLUS, I have more space to put crap. Yay crap!

While it isn’t as easy to see when I first put them in, I still am happy. I love that I stacked the cakes so we can actually see what we have.

How do you organize your baking supplies? Or even your corner cabinet? I could use more ideas for the other cabinets!
