Batman Day!

Today is Batman Day! How cool is that?

NANANANANANANA BATMAN!

To celebrate National Batman Day I made myself some cool Batman art.

I saw it first on Pinterest. It was a link to buy on Etsy, but it was already sold. I’m poor, plus it was sold, so I knew I had to diy it.

It looks like to me the artist used paint. I was too lazy to dig out paint, so I chose to use sharpies. But first, I had to figure out what to draw on. I knew I still had some pretty good paper left from my artsy days. You could use art paper, cardstock, canvas. Pretty much whatever you can draw on.

I cut the paper into rectangles. I honestly was trying to get four squares out of one piece of paper, and failed epically. So I ended up using two pieces of paper, cut into two rectangles.

I then free handed the characters and logo onto the paper. I erased and tried again a lot, but in the end I really liked the way it looked. Just keep trying until it turns out the way you want. You don’t have to be a great artist to make lines. 🙂

Next, I raided my moms sharpie collection so I could color them in. She didn’t have any “skin color” sharpies, so I had to use a crayola marker. Problem with that is that the skin turned a bit orange. But once it was colored in I couldn’t do much about it.

When you color it in, do all the colors first. THEN go back over with the black. Otherwise you will have really bad bleeding and it will look like crap.

I decided to put them up by my closet. I used washi tape to make frames and hold them up. It worked pretty well. Are they perfectly straight? Of course not. Do I care? Of course not.
